Reaching Out – Connecting

I have to be honest, I had a little hard time with today’s blog prompt, at first

If you could have a guarantee that one, specific person was reading your blog, who would you want that person to be? Why? What do you want to say to them?

http://dailypost.wordpress.com/2014/01/14/daily-prompt-one/

One person, seriously? I am not writing this for one person. Ideally I would like this blog to find you in a place where my words can inspire you, and it really does not matter who you are – you are special, you are my readers, you chose to spend some time with me. YOU are the ONE.

Of course validation is wonderful, and validation from experts is even better, but again that means more then one person. Rev. Don Lewis, Crystal Blanton (not related, but appreciated), Kent Heilen are a few of the people whom work within the community of Pagans and I consider them experts.

Still they do not overshadow the importance of the individual reader of a blog, whom through some way found a way in the Universe to connect. Maybe our moment of sharing can mean a moment of inspiration, or a moment that allowed you to reach for a larger goal, or affect you in some other way positively.

Then it was worth spending my time writing this blog. Everything else is just icing on the cake.

The Habit of Fear

Image

habit – a settled or regular tendency or practice, esp. one that is hard to give up

Fear-based thinking is one of these habits that is hard to get rid off. Fear of that there is not enough, fear that one is not good enough, fear that one might be looked at as different, an outcast, if one chooses a path that is not the conventional one.
Being a Witch is not a path that can be walked on in fear. It demands courage, not only to face the possibility of becoming the target of ignorance, but also a more personal courage to work through the personal fears that live deep seated at times hidden in the tradition and habits with which we grew up with, specifically if we come from a very conventional background.

In Wicca this is often considered Shadow work.

But I do think that many overstate this work through the shadow of one soul, and create a habit of living in the past, rather then working toward a new future. The courage I speak off to overcome ones fear, does not need a dwelling upon the past, but rather an examination of ones reaction today, and the realization that there is a choice. You can choose a different reaction toward a situation with the new skills you acquired or examine why you react in habit.

The first option will create change, the second option will keep you where you are.

As a community in general I have observed the habit of fear based thinking by fighting within ourselves, drowning our desires for abundance, by discarding it into the box of greed, and fighting against the many issues that are currently approaching everyone’s experience, such as economic and social injustices. Fear keeps us there, courage to stand up and look for creative solutions brings us around it, and eventually allows those issues to dissipate.

Courage is a part of faith in our belief that we live in an ever expanding Universe that yields to our will through Magick. If we do not have that courage for expansion, what is the point of being able to create change the way we do?

Living In The Moment – Creating A Future

Living in the now, the moment and truly appreciating its presence, lays the foundation to a better future. Gratitude for each step, the focus upon the beauty that is, is wiser than the focus upon what may be, specifically when the may-be is laced with expectations of something not so perfect.

Relaxing first into the beauty of the moment can create an positive tomorrow, simply by applying the principles of Law of Attraction. If you are focused upon finding the positive in the now, the Universe by Law will find you more positive in your next now, and a momentum of positive experience will enter you daily focus.

An example of focusing in the now would be not only a gratitude journal, but a walking meditation, where the focus is upon each step, nothing further, nothing less. There is no room for dismissive or negative thought in those moments, that focus can open your experience to get unstuck from an inner negative chatter, in which so many of us exist in.

Begin with the simple daily practice of Gratitude. Expand that to focus upon something you particularly love, such as the flavor of the coffee you are drinking right now. Employ a daily walking meditation. Train your focus to move away from negative expectations, or expectations that might have a negative or non-believing undertone, by employing these simple strategies throughout the day.

Living in the moment can be a powerful spiritual practice of expansion.

Welcome! Time For A Change!

Welcome to the new Shrine of Hecate Blog.

I have been in the process of relocating my blogs to wordpress, because we have outgrown Blogger, and this platform can grow with us, as we expand together.

This will be the new location for the blog formally known as http://hecates-corner.blogspot.com

This new Shrine of Hecate blog will contain regular updates about Shrine activities, teachings related to Witchcraft, Wicca, The Correllian Nativist Tradition (to which the Shrine belongs to), as well as posts that are linked to the Pagan Blog Projects 2014, and at least three times weekly a Daily Prompt post.

To keep an archive of our former posts, I will keep the blogspot blog open, but no longer active.

Wishing you all the best 2014 you can hope for!
